Why this page exists
Search for Phantom Blade Zero right now and you will find dozens of guides with confident numbers: death penalties, save systems, ending counts, co-op modes. The game is not out. Nobody has those numbers.
Some of it is harmless. Some of it will make you plan around a mechanic that does not exist. This page tracks the eight claims we kept running into, what is actually behind each one, and what the sourced position is.
Every death costs one of Soul's 66 days.
Unconfirmed, and probably a story premise rather than a mechanic. Soul has sixty-six days to live - that is official. No official source describes a gameplay timer that decrements on death. The claim appears to be an inference from the premise that then got written as a system. If a real countdown exists, it will be reported on launch day.
Bells are save points and fast-travel nodes.
No source. This one has the shape of a Soulslike assumption - bonfires, idols, lamps - applied to a game that is not a Soulslike. Nothing in official material describes bells as checkpoints. Treat any guide that states this as unreliable on other systems too.
The game has asynchronous co-op and PvP.
False. It is a single-player game. The PlayStation listing lists one player, and the store description describes a single-player action RPG. Any mention of PvP or asynchronous multiplayer is describing a different game.
The Standard Edition costs $62.99.
Wrong region. The US price is $59.99, with the Digital Deluxe at $69.99, identical on PS5 and PC. The $62.99 figure comes from non-US storefront snapshots and has been copied widely, including into buy-guides that then compare it against the wrong baseline.
There are eight endings.
No official source. A specific, memorable number that appears across several sites with no citation behind any of them. Side quests are confirmed to affect the story, and exploration is confirmed to matter, but no ending count has been published. We will not repeat a number we cannot source.
The difficulty modes are Story, Standard, Hard, and Sha-Chi Master.
Outdated. The four modes announced at the 17 August 2026 State of Play are Wayfarer, Pathbreaker, Hellwalker, and 66 Days. The older names came from earlier speculation and were never official.
It is a Soulslike with a stamina bar.
Half wrong, and the half that is wrong is the important half. It is not a Soulslike in its combat loop, and there is no stamina bar. Sha-Chi is a shared budget for heavy attacks and blocking, refilled by attacking and by swapping weapons. It rewards forward pressure; stamina punishes it.
Full wiki data - all bosses, all weapons - is already available.
Impossible. The game unlocks on 29 October 2026. Everything published before then is preview coverage, demo impressions, or invention. Pages with complete weapon lists and boss strategies right now are describing content nobody has played.
How we check a claim
- Primary first. S-GAME announcements, the PlayStation Blog post, and live store listings outrank everything.
- Preview is not retail. A hands-on impression is useful and provisional. We label it, and we rewrite it after launch.
- Two independent sources minimum for mechanics. If two guides agree because one copied the other, that is one source.
- No number without a citation. Percentages, counts, and timings are the most-copied and least-verified things in this genre.
Tell us we are wrong
If you have a source we missed - a developer stream, a store listing in another region, a hands-on detail - send it. Corrections are the point of this page, and a correction we refuse to make is worse than one we never published.
Everything here is dated. When the retail build contradicts us on 29 October, the retail build wins and this page changes.
Questions people actually ask
Does dying in Phantom Blade Zero cost you a day?
No official source describes that mechanic. The 66-day limit is the story premise. Treat a real countdown as unconfirmed until launch.
Is Phantom Blade Zero multiplayer?
No. It is a single-player game. Claims about co-op or PvP are incorrect.
What is the correct US price?
$59.99 Standard and $69.99 Digital Deluxe. The widely repeated $62.99 figure comes from non-US storefronts.
