The short answer. Stop chasing. Hold mid-range, let her come to you, and punish the landing rather than the leap.

The shape of the fight
Red Wraith is designed to make your best habit work against you. If you learned on Coppermaul that aggression is rewarded, she is the correction: press her while she is airborne and you will whiff into a punish.
Her movement is the mechanic. She leaves, she comes back, and the return is where the fight is decided. Coverage consistently describes her as requiring precise repositioning counters rather than trades - Ghoststep is the intended answer, because it puts you behind her instead of in front of the follow-up.
Why she is hard to read
- No wind-up to memorise. Heavy bosses teach you a rhythm. She teaches you a range.
- Vertical movement. Leaping attacks remove the usual ground-based spacing logic - backing up does not create distance.
- Short recovery. Where Coppermaul gives you a second and a half, she gives you a moment.
How to beat her
- Hold mid-range and wait. This is the whole fight. She has to commit to reach you.
- Punish the landing, not the jump. The airborne phase is not your window. The half-second after it is.
- Dodge late, and sideways. Early dodges are what she is built to punish.
- Use one-hit punishes until you know her set. Long strings against a fast enemy are how you lose health you did not need to lose.
- Keep your meter full. Against a boss with no slow windows, Sha-Chi is your only insurance. Light attacks only until you understand her.
Do not try to out-speed her. She is faster than you. Every attempt to match her tempo turns the fight into a trade, and a trade against a fast enemy is a loss on average.
Her second appearance
Red Wraith returns in a combined encounter alongside the Chief Disciple, which changes the problem completely: you now have a fast harasser and a summoner in the same arena, and the correct target order is not obvious.
Preview coverage names this later fight separately as Chief Disciple's Fallen Hope, a multi-enemy climax rather than a rematch. Preview We have not written that fight up yet, because the detail available is too thin to be useful and we would rather leave the gap visible than fill it with invention.
Questions people actually ask
Is Red Wraith a required boss?
She appears in demo content and returns in a later combined encounter. Whether the first meeting is optional has not been confirmed.
How do you counter Red Wraith's leaping attacks?
Dodge late and to the side, then punish the landing. Chasing her airborne phase is what gets players killed.
Does Red Wraith drop a weapon?
No drop has been confirmed.
